To the Editor:

As a scientist I am shocked and frightened by the poisonous
hatred and prejudice towards scientists and engineers expressed in
Oriana Fallaci's "A Little Piece of the Moon". The first step in
preparing a pogrom is to deny the humanity of the intended victims,
and she does this very effectively.

The Apollo program was one of humanity's greatest achievements,
and to call everyone involved stupid is an extreme exercise in egotism.
Perhaps her contempt for the sciences serves to excuse her being
to lazy to learn about them.
